James Madison University (JMU) is accepting applications for a Coordinator for Leader Development Experiences to create, develop, implement and assess leader development experiences for all students at JMU through the staff and resources of the Dux Leadership Center. The Dux Leadership Center is the leadership resource center for students and is part of Student Activities and Involvement within University Unions.

The successful candidate will provide collaborative support for the advancement of leader development opportunities and experiences for students across the entire campus with personnel from both academic and student affairs departments. Additionally, the successful candidate will provide consultative support and encouragement for the development and delivery of leadership programs by other departments and will participate in the delivery of student employee training as requested by supervisors and department heads in the Division of Student Affairs.

Duties and responsibilities include:

- Supervise and provide educational support for student employees working as Dux Leadership Center LEAD (Leadership Education and Development) Team Consultants to ensure appropriate implementation of leader development experiences.

- Direct, manage, maintain, recruit participants and be fiscally responsible for multiple leader development experiences for students, including, but not limited to relationships, connections, and leadership workshops; success or burnout workshops; On the Road for Change: An Ethical Leadership Alternative Spring Break Experience; and Make Your Mark On Madison.

- Be familiar with, collaboratively engage with, and otherwise support other leader development experiences provided by other units and departments across campus, interacting and partnering effectively with faculty and staff to encourage and enhance leader development experiences for all students.

- Develop, direct and regularly report on the assessment of leader development experiences, ensuring that key learning outcomes are established, assessment measures are implemented and results are incorporated into future iterations of programming efforts.

- Serve as a consultant to student organizations, personnel within the department and in other departments in the Student Affairs Division, as well as to faculty, to assist in the creation and implementation of their leader development experiences for students.

- Serve on appropriate departmental committees and work groups within the department, as well as on committees and task force initiatives in the Student Affairs Division and across the university as appropriate and/or assigned by actively participating in meetings to represent the Dux Leadership Center, as well as support the overall mission and purpose of the department, the division and the university.

Qualifications include:

- Master's degree in college student personnel administration or related field and one year or more of experience (graduate school assistantship work accepted) in a student affairs higher education leadership programming setting or similar environment; or 5 years work experience in a higher education leadership programming setting or similar environment.

- Previously certified (or be sufficiently familiar with the content as appropriate) as a facilitator, or willing to obtain such certification, in numerous key leadership programs including: Franklin Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and 5 Choices, Personality Insight's DISC Personality Profile Assessment, Gallup's Clifton Strengths and Kouzes & Posner's Student Leadership Challenge.

- Be highly skilled in delivering effective and engaging presentations and development of training and workshop materials.

- Possess excellent interpersonal relationship skills and superb communication skills.

- Possess a working knowledge of, and the ability to practically apply, leadership and educational theories, specifically the Social Change Model of Leadership, the Student Leadership Challenge, the Intent-based Leadership Model, the Relational Leadership Model, Servant Leadership, Experiential Learning Theory and Outdoor Adventure Programming, as well as student development theories.

- Be knowledgeable in basic marketing skills, social media platforms, recruitment techniques and supervisory skills.

- Be current on research and trends in the field of leadership studies.

- Be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite and basic website operations through WordPress.

- Possess the ability to lift light objects 40 pounds or less. Limited use of highly specialized equipment and/or machinery.
