JOLE Article Types

JOLE invites three article types:

Research Manuscripts are designed to contribute to focus on the theories and conceptual foundations of effective leader and leadership development. Successful research manuscripts either advance theoretical understanding while suggesting new and innovative research pathways, or include and analyze empirical data to connect to broadly significant theoretical elements in leadership education to contribute to our understanding of relevant processes and outcomes. Research manuscripts should be limited to 8000 words, inclusive of abstract, tables, figures, and references.

Practitioner Manuscripts focus on specific contextual elements relevant to the field of leadership education. Successful practitioner manuscripts attend to specific teaching or training interventions, innovative pedagogical elements or practices, or particularly broadly significant programs designed for leader or leadership development. These manuscripts rigorously and deeply describe “best practice” for leadership educators, and are limited to 5000 words, inclusive of abstract, tables, figures, and references.

Viewpoint Manuscripts are designed for scholars to contribute a rigorous argument supporting a certain point of view regarding leader and leadership development or leadership education. Viewpoint manuscripts are limited to 3000 words, includes of abstract, tables, figures, and references.
