Job Description

This position, which includes the dual designation of the Program Director for Organizational Leadership and Professional Instructor, is ideal for the person who is interested in both administrative leadership and the opportunity to design curriculum and teach a variety of courses in Organizational Leadership & Development. The position will require a load of seventy­ five percent (75%) Professional Instructor and twenty-five percent (25%) Program Director. The Program Director is responsible for the promotion, advancement, and management of the Organizational Leadership degree in Correctional Education (CE). Online and post-traditional programming, and workforce development for adults. The position will provide leadership in recruitment and retention effortsworking closely with Enrollment Management, Admissions, and Advising. The Program Director will work in coordination with CE and formerly incarcerated persons on key academic initiatives that expand academic programming opportunities for the CE program. The Program Director will have the opportunity and responsibility to redesign the curriculum to meet student needs and interests.

The Professional Instructor/Program Director for Organizational Leadership is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the B.S. in Organizational Leadership and Development program, including:

  • Identifying, developing, and evaluating learning opportunities primarily in Ohio and the region.
  • Developing and conducting orientations for students and mentoring adjunct instructors.
  • Encouraging and facilitating on-going communication among the students, instructors and the program; and developing and implementing policies and procedures related to the Organizational Leadership program.
  • Recruiting students in collaboration with Enrollment Management and Admissions, as well as retaining students in partnership with the Student Success Team.
  • Instruction of nine (9) credit hours during each academic year and 3 hour release for the Program Director responsibilities.
  • Student advisement.
  • Service to the university, including departmental meetings and committee work.
  • Participation in community activities.
  • Collection and aggregation of program data for the program regarding quality of academic programs, student feedback, achievement of desired outcomes, and other identified key metrics (“’meaningful indicators of effectiveness”).
  • Working with CAS Dean and staff, assisting the CAS departments in continuous improvement efforts focused on regional workforce development related to ORGLD.
  • Design and implementation of noncredit-to-credit pathways.
  • Coordination and expansion of CE program academic offerings and those geared to online adults.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership or related field
  • Minimum of two (2) years college teaching experience in an online education program required
  • Understanding of Correctional Education learners, modalities, and learning systems
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to teach across the curriculum
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards published by Higher Learning Commission
  • Willingness to engage in community partnership and program development
  • Ability to use electronic learning management system software (i.e. Blackboard Learn) to deliver curriculum to students
  • Ability to work irregular hours to meet the needs of students
  • The successful candidate should have demonstrated experience teaching or academic preparation to teach
  • The successful candidate should be able to describe a current or intended scholarly agenda related to organizational leadership and training or post­ traditional and adult learners
  • Demonstrated capacity to organize and administer complex programming related to adult learners
  • Willingness to engage in community partnership and program development
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. preferred
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant and successful administrative/leadership experience, such as a program coordinator, supervisor, or director in a higher education context preferred
  • Knowledge of adult learners including workforce skill requirements preferred
